• Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1, Trichy started functioning in the year 1966 near Kajamalai Kinder Garten with five sections totally from class I to V. Later it was shifted to Tennur –behind Hindi Prachar Sabha. Smt Rama Srinivasan , PGT English was the In-Charge Principal of the school. Mr Krishna, Principal of KV No.1 ,JIPMER Campus, Pondicherry was looking after the school from(1967-68) when classes Vi to IX where functioning with one section each. In the year 1967 Mr.S.Ranganathan,PGT Economics, KV Jamnagar, Gujarat was appointed as the Principal and posted to KV No.1 Trichy.
  Later the school was shifted to Ordnance Factory Campus and was functioning in a temporary factory building just opposite to Ordnance Factory , Trichy. In the year 1969 sections of each classes were increased with the enrollment of 20 to 25 students, two sections upto class VII & one section upto class XI was functioning.
• The land was allotted to KV No.1 by OFT , Trichy for the construction of New building in the year 1970-71 and the construction work started in 1972 , the school started functioning in its own building.
  An addition Primary Section from class I to V of KV No.1,Trichy was also functioning in Trichy city near Fort Railway Station in Railway building with one section in each class.
  In the year 1977-78 10+ 2 System Started.
• In the year 1990 Primary Play Area was constructed and in the year 1993 the New Primary Block was constructed and inaugurated.
• In the year 1996 Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1, Ordnance Estate,Tiruchirappalli-16 was selected and declared one of the MODEL KVs all over India out of which 100 schools were selected from 900 KVs.
  Junior Science Lab was inaugurated especially for the Secondary Students to gain insight into the field of Science and Technology subsequently in the year 1999.Computers were introduced to the students and a separate Computer Lab with 20 Terminals were inaugurated.
• A new Security Room in front of the entrance of the Vidyalaya and by the side Two Wheeler Parking area(Shed) was constructed for the safety and security of the students and staff and also a fountain was constructed before the entrance to give a grand and lush green view to the Vidyalaya.
• In 2001 & 2002 Stage shed (over roof) for secondary Wing Assembly Stage and a Stage along with Assembly Area for Primary Wing Was Constructed respectively.
  Children Play Area was constructed in the year 2003 by keeping in mind the overall safety measures.
• Secondary and Primary Resource Rooms were inaugurated in the year 2005 and 2006.
• In the fast pacing world our Vidyalaya also availed internet in 2009 to give the best facility to the tech savvy generation.
• The year 2012 can be marked very productive as New Additional Primary block was inaugurated, Additional primary Section for class I started functioning. Primary and Hr. Secondary Computer Lab was inaugurated and to ensure safe and healthy teaching & learning environment a Medical Room was inaugurated.
• The same year introduced the Modern Teaching aid to the school as e-Class Room(LCD Projector) for 10 Classrooms was installed.
  In 2013 Additional Primary Section for Class I started functioning with the enrollment of 35 to 40 students.
• To make sure our students get all sports and health facilities the Vidyalaya inaugurated Basket Ball Court and installed RO Facility in 2013.
  The Automation of School’s Library was done in 2014.
• For effective teaching and learning process the Vidyalaya introduced Apple I-pad (E-classes) and availed Leased line Internet (Broad band) with 6Mbps speed in the year 2016.
  The Vidyalaya expanded the science stream classes as one additional section for class XI was introduced in the year 2017.
• For clean drinking water our Vidyalaya installed full-fledged RO plant in 2017.
• As a milestone in the field of innovation and technology the Vidyalaya introduced and inaugurated Atal Tinkering Lab in the current year 2018 to ensure a few scientists in making.
• Presently our Vidyalaya stands as a mighty giant in the field of school Education producing Doctors, Engineers , Business Administrators, IT Professionals and many more to come in the crown of Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 , Ordnance Estate, Tiruchirappalli-16 with its students strength of 2175.
